Who Cares – the untold story of young carers

A multi-award winning play, ‘Who Cares’ is coming to Guildford’s Mill Studio at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre this weekend.

The play showcases life as a young carer, through the lives of three teenagers, depicting what life is really like for them.

Adapted from real-life testimonies, including from many of our Surrey Young Carers, the play examines the impact of austerity, our failing social care system, and what happens when a child ‘becomes the parent’ and takes on a carer’s role.

The play is co-produced by The Lowry & LUNG in partnership with Gaddum. It was written by Matt Woodward, who conducted over 100 interviews with young carers in his research.

It has won multiple awards, toured twice, been performed at the Edinburgh Fringe and was recently broadcast on BBC Radio 4.

Tear jerking… emotionally raw and theatrically slick.
