Stress management: a 6-week course with the Centre for Psychology
Dates: Wednesday 20th October – 24th November, 2-4pm
A chance to look at skills to help you manage stress. We will learn about what stress is, how we recognise it in ourselves and what strategies we can use to help manage stress and calm our soothing system.
Join ACS’s Thandi Hagos and specialist staff from the Centre for Psychology.
The group will cover the following topics:
Session 1: Introduction to the CBT model; understanding depression/anxiety/stress; the “five area model” (vicious cycle); factors maintaining stress; goal setting
Session 2: Behavioural Activation for managing symptoms of depression/stress
Session 3: Worry Management techniques and mindfulness
Session 4: Challenging unhelpful thinking patterns; managing difficult emotions
Session 5: Relaxation; well-being; self-compassion; mindfulness
Session 6: Improving sleep; relapse prevention
