Carers Week 2025

Celebrating the Surrey's unpaid carers and recognise the huge amount they do.

It’s Carers Week

It’s time to celebrate the UK’s unpaid carers and recognise the huge amount they do!

Carers Week 2025 takes place from Monday 9th June until Sunday 15th June 2025. It’s a national event to recognise and celebrate the UK’s six million plus unpaid family and friend carers. The Week aims to raise awareness of caring, highlighting the challenges family and friend carers face, and acknowledge the huge contribution carers make.

Compton Phone BoxAre you one of Surrey’s missing carers?

It’s also a time to help people who don’t think of themselves as carers, to identify as carers and then access much-needed support.

Often it’s because people think of themselves as ‘just his Mum’ or ‘just her son’. But supporting someone who is ill, frail or disabled, or has a mental health or addiction issue, who couldn’t manage without you, means you are a carer, with your own needs, and there IS support for you. If this is you or your know someone visit our Missing Carers page and sign up via our simple form.

Carers Week Carer: Conference

The theme for Carers Week is ‘Caring About Equality’ highlighting the inequalities faced by unpaid carers, including a greater risk of poverty, social isolation, poor mental and physical health. Far too often, carers of all ages miss out on opportunities in their education, careers, or personal lives, just because of their caring role.

So we are running a special Carers Conference online on Wednesday of 11th of June. We will be sharing how we are looking to grow and develop our services, as well as finding out from you your views on support available in Surrey, including hearing your thoughts on Surrey’s soon to be renewed Carers Strategy.
