General training for all professionals

E-learning – Aimed at raising awareness for anyone working with adult or young carers, there are two e-learning courses: Carer Aware and Young Carer Aware, which provide a first look at some of the issues plus facts about carers’ rights. If you are a social care professional working in Surrey you can access the two courses via your workplace intranet. For other professionals, click on this link:


For those working with young people, Surrey Young Carers will provide training to schools and other organisations on carers' issues. Contact 01483 568269 or

Health and Social Care staff

Because Carers Count - This half-day course for anyone who works with carers in health and social care, a voluntaryorganisation or in the private sector gives a real insight into the lives of carers. Each day is facilitated by a professional trainer alongside two carers who act as joint facilitators and share their own experiences. Places are limited so it is advisable to book early.
