Children’s Commissioner recognises young carers’ challenges

We are delighted to see that the Children’s Commissioners new report ‘Voices of England’s Missing Children’   notes young carers as a priority group that need identification and proper support to help them stay in school and do well.

They are identified under Ambition 4 – “no child should feel that they need to miss school to support or care for their family.”

Support in school

The report proposes more in-school support such as young carers champions, young carers policies and proper identification of young carers, plus targeted support.

Our Angel Award helps schools achieve these aims with guidance, advice and templates to use. To find out more, visit https://www.actionforcarers.org.uk/for-professionals/schools-colleges/

Let’s all work together to make sure that with the right support, all young carers thrive.
