SCC consultation into its Short Breaks Policy for Carers

Surrey County Council’s Adult Social Care team is consulting on its short breaks policy for adult carers – considering what respite a carer should get when looking after an adult with the (eligible) support and care needs.

Consultation is open now, closes Sunday 8th March.

Surrey have drafted their Adults, Wellbeing and Health Partnership (AWHP) Short Breaks Policy for adults, essentially respite care for carers.

It aims to meet the statutory duties under the Care Act 2014, and acknowledge the importance of carers having regular breaks from their caring responsibilities.

The policy describes:

  • How short breaks (respite) will be offered
  • The eligibility criteria, and
  • The types of support available.
