A round up of the local - and national - news affecting carers
On 22 March 2026, 19 amazing runners took on the Surrey Half Marathon in support of unpaid carers, raising over £5,600. With a brilliant atmosphere, strong community support and plenty of cheer along the route, the day was a huge success. Donations are still open, helping us continue providing vital support for carers across Surrey.

A team from Nuffield Health sites across Surrey is gearing up to take on the Surrey Half Marathon on 22 March, raising funds for us at Action for Carers to help support unpaid carers of all ages.
SCC is consulting on its short breaks policy for adult carers - considering what respite a carer should get when looking after an adult with the (eligible) support and care needs.
Surrey Heartlands Trust have declared a 'critical incident' due to winter pressures - and other hospitals in similar situations. If you care for someone in a Surrey Hospital and it's likely the hospital wish to discharge them, please speak to us for advice and guidance as you go through this process.
