Who can attend Action for Carers’ training?

Our free training is open to any professional in Surrey who works with clients or families, whether directly or indirectly. This includes staff in health, social care, education, voluntary organisations, and community services.

What will I learn in the training?

You’ll gain insight into the experiences and challenges of unpaid carers, understand their legal rights under the Care Act and Children & Families Act, and learn practical steps to identify, support and refer carers to local help. Sessions also highlight the support available across Surrey and best practice for working with carers of all ages.

Is the training free?

Yes – all our online training sessions are completely free for Surrey professionals. We also offer tailored sessions for teams or organisations, such as GP practices, upon request.

Do you offer specific training for schools and colleges?

Yes – our Surrey Young Carers team provides specialist training for school and college staff. These sessions help you identify and support young carers, meet Angel Award standards, and adapt school practices to ensure young carers feel understood and supported.

How do I book a session?

You can view upcoming training dates and book your place through Eventbrite using the links on our training pages. Once registered, you’ll receive a Microsoft Teams link before the session.
