Training for people working with unpaid carers

Free online courses for professionals in education, health, social care and community settings to identify and support unpaid carers

Training for Surrey professionals supporting carers

Action for Carers run free online courses for people working in Surrey to better understand how to identify, support and refer carers.

Our training has been running for over 20 years, giving attendees practical tools, legal insight and a powerful understanding of carers’ lived experiences.

Who is the training for?

Open to anyone working in Surrey involved in supporting adults or families – whether directly or indirectly – including those working in:

  • Education
  • Health
  • Social care
  • Voluntary and community sectors
  • Public Services

Please note: we also offer specialist sessions for schools focused on identifying and supporting young carers – see here for more details.

Why does this training matter?

The Care Act 2014 places a duty on local and health authorities to recognise and support carers, but research shows many are still not identified or given the help they need.

Carers face huge pressure, with significant impacts on their physical and mental wellbeing, finances and family life.

Our course helps ensure your organisation is Care Act-compliant, up to date with best practice, and equipped to support carers effectively.

  • Because Carers Count offers a general introduction to carers’ rights and needs and your obligations, as well as how to signpost and refer for further support. See details below.

Please note we can also provide tailored training on request, for example for GP Practice staff.

Quality of presentations high and well thought out workshops.
