Dementia Training for Surrey carers

Community and day care venues around Surrey are hosting free sessions for carers of people with dementia.

Surrey County Council’s communities team is offering free training sessions to support you to provide the best possible care at home, helping your loved one to live safely and well.

There will be a variety of hour-long modules available, covering:

  • Understanding dementia
  • Nutrition and hydration
  • Preventing falls
  • Managing concerning behaviours
  • Coping strategies and wellbeing
  • Advanced dementia care
  • Financial support
  • Promoting dignity and independence during personal care
  • Signposting information to other sources of support

When and where

Sessions start soon, and are being set up ‘on demand’ – i.e. in the areas where most carers request support. They look likely to start in Reigate/Banstead, but will be taking place across the county, and over the next several months.

If you are interested in the training sessions, please complete this short form saying where you are in which topics most interest you.
