Celebrating Action for Carers volunteers in Volunteers' Week
It’s Volunteers’ Week 1st – 7th June
Time to celebrate and thank the nation’s millions of volunteers!
Volunteers’ Week returns from 1-7 June 2026, and Action for Carers Surrey will once again be joining charities and voluntary organisations across the UK to recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution volunteers make in our communities every day.
Running since 1984, Volunteers’ Week is an opportunity to say thank you to volunteers for the time, compassion, skills and energy they give to causes across the country. It also highlights the huge difference volunteering makes to people, communities and organisations.

Our volunteers
We’d like to say a big thank you to our amazing volunteers this Volunteers’ Week, who help us in so many ways to support Surrey’s unpaid family and friend carers.
At Action for Carers we have volunteers support us at at our Carer Hubs, at our events, helping with deliveries, and many other roles.
We want to celebrate, and say thank you to them – and all our previous volunteers too – many of whom are carers or former carers. They do a huge amount and we could not manage without them. THANK YOU!

Interested in joining the team?
We’ll be recruiting for a range of new and varied volunteer roles , so if you know anyone who may be interested in volunteering – either regularly or on an ad hoc basis – please do help spread the word!
Below are some examples:
- Engagement volunteer (manning information stands and attending community events)
- Community wellbeing volunteer (facilitating a friendly carer support group)
- Friend of ACS (help by putting up posters and fundraising)
- Social media/Marketing and Communications
- Administration or doing computer-based research
