Carers Week 2026 Highlights

Carers Week 2026 saw us host more than 20 events for unpaid carers across Surrey, bringing people together at our Hubs, in hospitals, online and at a variety of locations across the county. A huge thank you to our partners, whose generosity and support helped make many of these opportunities possible through free or discounted access.

Despite some mixed weather at times, carers embraced the chance to take a break, meet with others and find out more about the support available to them.

We were delighted to launch our new Hub in Oxted at Master Park, where carers enjoyed delicious cake, friendly conversation and the opportunity to share experiences in a welcoming space. At The Meadows, our team met a steady stream of carers, including several new faces keen to learn more about the support available.

Our Surrey hospital teams were also busy throughout the week, speaking to carers and healthcare professionals, generating new referrals and having valuable conversations about how we can work together to better support carers. Encouragingly, several hospital staff expressed interest in further carer awareness training for their teams.

Our Young Adult Carers enjoyed a fun bowling and pizza event at Woking Superbowl, while elsewhere carers took part in a range of wellbeing activities, information sessions and opportunities to meet with others who understand the challenges of caring.

The week’s special outings proved particularly popular, with visits to RHS Wisley, Painshill, Hampton Court Palace and Brooklands Museum.

We received some lovely feedback from carers who attended:

I’ve enjoyed it very much. Many thanks to everyone involved in arranging this for us.

At Hampton Court Palace, one carer told us:

A big thank you for organising the Hampton Court visit. Not only was the venue amazing, the way you organised the event was so good too – just the right amount of support and freedom. I definitely felt like I was stepping out of my normal world for the day and leaving my worries behind.

We rounded off the week with our biggest event of the week – a sunny day at Brooklands Museum, where over 70 carers enjoyed exploring the museum, discovering its history and spending time together.

One carer said:

It was a great day, the weather was perfect and the atmosphere was lovely. I was totally able to switch off from my caring role, and I even bumped into one of my Carer Buddies from the Woking Hub!

Thank you to everyone who helped make Carers Week 2026 such a success – our staff, volunteers, partners and supporters.
