It’s Carers Week 8th-14th June 2026
It’s time to celebrate the UK’s unpaid carers and recognise the huge amount they do!
Carers Week’s theme this year is ‘building carer friendly communities’ reminding organisations of carers, their situations and needs for support.
This important national theme is all about helping communities, workplaces, services and organisations better understand unpaid carers – recognising the challenges carers can face, valuing their contribution, and making sure carers feel seen, supported and included.
At Action for Carers Surrey, we know how important carers are to their family, friends and communities, often supporting family or friends quietly, tirelessly, and sometimes without even recognising themselves as carers. Carers Week is a chance to shine a light on that role, celebrate carers, and help connect more people with support.
Events to celebrate carers
We have a full range of events and activities planned for Carers Week, both online and in person across Surrey, giving carers the chance to meet with other carers, take some time out, access support, and feel recognised for the important role they play.
From a day out at RHS Wisley and Brooklands Museum, to yoga sessions, information events and a carers Q&A webinar, there is something for everyone.

Surrey County Council: Carer-friendly communities
SCC have an event in Woking for Carers Week. ‘Making Communities Carer Friendly’ takes place 11am-2pm on Thursday 11th June at Victoria Gate, Woking, to which they invited carers, partners, community organisations and colleagues. We will be at this event with a stand, so please say hello!
This event is centred on carers’ voices, and every person who joins helps make the conversations richer and more meaningful. There is plenty of tea, coffee and cake ☕🍰! Carers are also welcome to bring the person they care for along.
You can drop in any time (11am-2pm) but if you can, please email them to let them know: [email protected]
