Carers Week is 9–15th June. A time to highlight, celebrate and thank the country’s unpaid carers.
There over six million carers in the UK, with around 120,000 in Surrey. That’s people looking after an ill or disabled friend, neighbour, partner, child or other relative who couldn’t manage without their support.
You will be bound to know a carer (and may be one yourself). It’s a tough, unrelenting role, and Carers Week is a time to acknowledge and thank carers for all they do.
Action for Carers will be celebrating the Week across the county at its Carer Hubs, with free wellbeing events, support, advice and refreshments. Starting on Monday 9th, events run at Guildford, Banstead, Camberley, Addlestone, Hersham, Caterham, and ending at Leatherhead on Friday.
And for those who struggle to leave home, free online events include mindfulness, relaxation and yoga as well as support groups.
Carers Conference: There’s also an online conference for carers to share their views on support in Surrey and feed into Surrey’s Carers Strategy – soon to be reviewed.
