I joined the organisation in July 2015 following the retirement of outgoing CEO, Jane Thornton.
I have over 33 years’ experience in the charity, private and financial services sectors where I had a number of senior operational roles. In 2008 my career took a change in direction and I began engaging with a number of people-focused charities, assisting in the development of their strategies. During this period I was also a trustee of a charity providing support to families who have children with special educational needs.
In the two years before joining Action for Carers, I helped a number of charities deliver transformational programmes for young people, including a delivery partner for the Prince’s Trust. I was also involved with the Theatre of Debate, a start-up charity delivering educationally-focused projects to schools.
As someone who has been a carer, I understand the issues and pressures this role presents, the importance and value of accessible services and receiving the right information, support, advice and representation. I’m passionate about the work of Action for Carers and committed to making a positive impact on carers’ lives.
