Enabling carers to have a voice and realise a life outside caring
School information for young carers

On average, there are at least two young carers in every class. They often face challenges because of their caring role, which means they may fall behind in their work, not meet their potential and even face bullying.

Angel Award Scheme

We have developed our Angel Award Scheme with input from young carers who outlined what would help them manage school alongside their caring role. The aim is to recognise schools that are providing real support to their young carers – and encourage all schools to do more.

Life at school or college provides challenges for all young people, but for those who have a caring role at home there are often additional problems that arise in their education. Commonly there are issues with attendance, behaviour, achievement and home-school communication...

People Like Us

People Like Us is a video based learning resource which explains what a young carer is and what their life is like. It helps teachers and other professionals to identify young carers, and young carers to self-identify, as well as explaining the best ways to help and support young carers.
