As we head into autumn we’d like to remind carers that the colder weather brings with it some unwelcome visitors in the form of nasty viruses. However, carers in Surrey are entitled to a free flu jab voucher which will allow them to get vaccinated against 4 different strains of the virus.
Surrey’s carers can get vaccinated at pharmacies this year with over 160 participating across the county. The hope is that busy carers will be able to access the jab without having to face congested flu clinics at GP surgeries.
The flu vaccination is a great way to protect yourself and those you care for from the harmful effects of flu which last year saw a nearly 50% increase in the number of outbreaks from 2015-2016 (according to Public Health England).
You can get your voucher either by calling our Carers Information Centre (0303 040 1234) or from your GP.
Please note that young carers should book in with their GP for the nasal spray.
