Volunteering is often a good first step back towards paid work, allowing you to learn new skills, meet new people and gain confidence. More flexible than a paid job, volunteering can be ideal if you have limited time available or need to take time out to check on a loved-one.
Charities and organisations that have volunteering opportunities generally provide comprehensive training and this can include communication skills, health and safety, computer skills and 'on the job' training.
Talk to us or look on the Surrey County Council website www.surreycc.gov.uk/get-involved/be-a-volunteer/volunteering-resources-and-events/volunteer-centres-in-surreyfor the contact details of your local volunteer centre.

Carer Ambassadors are volunteers who help us to deliver messages to the wider public,or decision-makers, on carer awareness. We might call on you to talk to the press, to participate in public meetings or to deliver training. This helps us in trying to achieve equitable services and support for carers throughout Surrey. If you are interested in finding out more about how you can get involved, call us on 01483 302748 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
