Action for Carers Surrey
Enabling carers to have a voice and realise a life outside caring

Action for Carers (Surrey) is county-wide charitable organisation.

We aim to ensure that the needs and concerns of carers in Surrey are heard and understood by those in a position to makes changes for the better, both within Surrey and nationally.  We also run a number of specialist services for carers including Surrey Young Carers, Learning and Work, Moving and Handling and GP Carer Awareness. Carers look after family, friends or neighbours in need of help because they are ill, frail or have a disability.  The care they provide is unpaid and, in Surrey alone, they contribute the equivalent of £1.59 Billion to the economy.

The organisation was established in 1992 and became a company limited by guarantee with charitable status in 2006.  We are primarily grant funded by Surrey County Council and currently have 40 employees, plus a bank of sessional workers, and over 2000 members and supporters.

We are seeking individuals with energy and commitment to join our board of trustees to help us move the organisation forward in this economically challenging environment.  If you have a background in fundraising, finance, ITC, Public Relations or any other relevant expertise we would like to hear from you.  Caring experience or knowledge would enhance the understanding of our work as would an appreciation of the role of governance in the charity sector although training will be available to those new to this activity.

If you are interested in this role please complete this Volunteer_Trustee_Application_Form.doc or contact:  Anne Hess on 01483 531026 or email
