Action for Carers Surrey
Enabling carers to have a voice and realise a life outside caring

Employers

Worried_male_worker_on_phone-acs.jpgThe UK has over three million working carers - that is 1 in 7 of the workforce. Most carers are aged 30 to 64, when many have gained valuable skills and experience. It therefore makes sound business sense to support working carers.

Employers for Carers provides advice to employers, promotes the benefits of supporting carers and works with the Government to deliver the National Carers Strategy launched in 2008. For further information go to www.employersforcarers.org or call 020 7378 4956.

The Work and Families Act 2006 details carers’ rights on flexible working. For further information on employees’ rights, go to www.gov.uk.

If a dispute has arisen with a working carer, you may wish to contact the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) on 08457 474747  www.acas.org.uk.

Our Carer Support Service welcomes enquiries from employers about caring issues and we are also available to talk to your staff. Contact us on 0303 040 1234 or email CarerSupport@actionforcarers.org.uk
